The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed higher on Wednesday, with all major indices in positive territory ahead of the July 23 Revolution Day holiday. The benchmark EGX30 index rose 0.95 per cent to end at 34,125.12 points, while the Shariah-compliant EGX33 gained 1.02 per cent to 3,516.76 points. The EGX70 index, which tracks small and mid-sized enterprises, edged up 0.21 per cent to 10,284.51 points. The broader EGX100 added 0.31 per cent to close at 13,888.34 points. Total market capitalisation reached 2.41 trillion Egyptian pounds. Arab and non-Arab foreign investors were net buyers, recording net purchases of 24.59 billion and 2.68 billion pounds, respectively. Egyptian investors were net sellers, offloading 27.27 billion pounds in total. The Egyptian Exchange will be closed on Thursday, July 24, in observance of the July 23 national holiday, the bourse said earlier the day. Top Gainers 1. Shares of Alexandria New Medical Centre soared 19.98 per cent to 31.470 Egyptian pounds a share. 2. Shares of Alexandria National Company for Financial Investment jumped 14.92 per cent to close at 36.200 per cent a share. 3. Shares of Orascom Investment Holding climbed 10.66 per cent, closing at 1.350 Egyptian pounds. Top losers 1. Shares of Certificates of Odin Egyptian Equity Investment Fund-KASAB plunged 9.84 per cent to 5.500 Egyptian pounds at closing. 2. Shares of Egyptian Arabian (Themar) Comp. For Securities & Bonds Brokerage (EAC) dived 4.36 per cent to close at 3.730 Egyptian pounds a share. 3.
