Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi held a meeting with AngloGold Ashanti's Chief Financial Officer & Executive Director Gillian Doran, along with the Vice President and Managing Director of Sukari Gold Mines Hoda Mansour, on the sidelines of Egypt Mining Forum 2025. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation with the Egyptian government to accelerate the issuance of exploitation rights, particularly for emerging companies. The aim is to broaden the mining investment base and boost exploration activities both at the Sukari mine and across new concession areas. Badawi reaffirmed the government's commitment to working closely with strategic partners and fostering a stable and attractive investment environment. He said the Sukari mine remains a successful model of public-private partnership in Egypt's mining sector. The minister also reiterated the ministry's dedication to maintaining open communication channels to resolve obstacles and streamline procedures, particularly in light of recent amendments to the Mineral Resources Law and the adoption of a new model for gold and mineral exploitation aimed at unlocking new investment opportunities.
