Egypt's Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir met with Minister of Planning of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Guylain Nyembo Mbwizya to explore avenues for enhanced bilateral cooperation, a Cabinet statement said on Thursday. El-Wazir praised the deep historical ties between Egypt and the DRC, emphasising President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's directives to strengthen Egypt's engagement with all African nations, including the DRC. Mbwizya expressed strong interest in advancing economic and trade relations with Egypt and benefiting from the expertise of Egyptian institutions and companies in developmental projects across sectors. He commended Egypt's infrastructure advancements, including projects such as the New Administrative Capital (NAC), road networks, railways, seaports, and electric traction systems, according to the report. The Congolese side highlighted its interest in expanding Egyptian participation in infrastructure, industrial, and transport projects in the DRC. Notable examples include successful Egyptian ventures such as Arab Contractors' road and water projects, Elsewedy Electric's energy and infrastructure developments, and other firms active in construction, pharmaceuticals, food industries, IT, and digital transformation. El-Wazir confirmed that Egyptian companies are fully prepared to implement large-scale projects in the DRC to the highest standards, leveraging extensive experience in both domestic and international markets. Both sides agreed to intensify technical meetings in the coming period to develop a joint action plan aimed at strengthening cooperation in the fields of transport and industry, the announcement added.
