The head of Egypt's General Organisation for Veterinary Services (GOVS) Hamed Al-Aqnas has met with the Commercial Attachè at the Embassy of Hungary in Cairo Patrik Maruzs to discuss cooperation in animal health and veterinary services, as per an official statement. Al-Aqanis stressed the need for technical and economic cooperation with Hungary to enhance veterinary capabilities and support food security efforts, in line with directives from Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk. Discussions included the potential for expanding Egyptian exports of animal-origin products to Hungary, particularly those that meet international quality and safety standards. The two sides also explored joint training opportunities, expert exchanges, and capacity-building initiatives in modern veterinary practices. Both parties emphasised that any cooperation must align with international health and epidemiological requirements, including updates from the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), to ensure the safety of livestock and public health in both countries. Maruzs praised GOVS's role in supporting Egypt's animal health system and expressed Hungary's interest in strengthening collaboration on veterinary inspection, exports, and technical exchange, according to the statement.
