France and Saudi Arabia, co-chairs of the UN High-Level Conference on the Peaceful Resolution of the Palestinian Question and Implementation of the Two-State Solution, along with heads of its working groups, voiced concern on Tuesday over the continued escalation and recent developments that prompted a suspension of the conference. In a joint communique, the co-chairs and working group leaders — Brazil, Canada, Egypt, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Mexico, Norway, Qatar, Senegal, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and the Arab League — said the developments validated earlier warnings about the fragility of the regional situation and the urgent need to restore calm, respect international law, and strengthen diplomatic efforts. The statement reaffirmed the parties' full commitment to the objectives of the conference and to ensuring the continuation of its work and the achievement of its goals. The co-chairs announced that new dates for the conference roundtables would be released soon. These will draw on contributions from the working groups to shape coordinated international commitments reflecting their determination to implement the two-state solution. The statement stressed that the current situation requires intensified efforts to uphold international law, respect the sovereignty of states, and promote peace, freedom, and dignity for all peoples in the region. It also reaffirmed unwavering support for all efforts aimed at ending the war in Gaza and achieving a just and sustainable resolution to the Palestinian issue through the implementation of the two-state solution, ensuring stability and security for all countries in the region.
