Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call on Sunday from Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides to discuss the regional situation. Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's total rejection of any expansion of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, stressing the need to halt Israeli military operations on all regional fronts. He warned that the continuation of the current approach would have severe consequences for all the region's peoples without exception. President Sisi called for a more active international role in urging regional parties to act responsibly. He underlined that peaceful solutions remain the only viable path to securing long-term security and stability in the region. In this context, Sisi emphasised the necessity of resuming US-Iran negotiations under the mediation of Oman, describing it as the best path to defuse current tensions. He also reiterated Egypt's longstanding position on establishing a Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction, applying to all states in the region. According to the official spokesperson, Sisi stressed that a just and comprehensive resolution of the Palestinian issue is the only guarantee for lasting peace in the Middle East. He called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of all hostages and detainees, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, ensuring security for all peoples of the region.
