Egypt's Minister of Agriculture Alaa Farouk said that the government is intensifying efforts to boost agricultural investment and partnerships across African countries, as per a Cabinet statement on Wednesday. The minister made the remarks during a meeting with a ministry-led committee focused on African cooperation, which included members of parliament and the senate, private sector investors, and ministry experts. Farouk emphasised that collaboration with these nations hinges on partnership agreements in integrated agricultural and industrial investment, as well as leveraging shared trade agreements, the statement added. The ministry aims to propose an initial investment model within two weeks, to be discussed with relevant scientific and international bodies ahead of preparing detailed technical and financial studies. Farouk also announced plans to establish a permanent committee involving parliamentary bodies and private sector representatives to evaluate investment opportunities and promote coordinated action. He also added that businessmen and investors will be encouraged to form partnerships among the government, private sector, and national banks to enhance Egypt's agricultural presence in Africa.
