Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib on Wednesday met with Belarusian National Assembly Chairman Igor Sergeenko to discuss ways to enhance economic and trade ties, as per an official statement. El-Khatib stressed the meeting's significance in enhancing Egypt-Belarus cooperation, expressing Egypt's appreciation for the Belarusian delegation's visit as a testament to the strong bilateral ties and mutual interests. He emphasised that Egypt-Belarus relations are built on mutual respect and understanding, and called for capitalising on achievements made in recent years to further enhance collaboration. The minister highlighted Egypt's interest in boosting trade and investment with Belarus to expand markets and partnerships, commending recent positive economic developments between the two countries. El-Khatib also highlighted Belarus's efforts to inject investments into the Egyptian market, lauding the shared vision for strengthening industrial and technological collaboration as a significant step towards sustainable development in both nations. Furthermore, he noted that Egypt offers an attractive investment climate backed by comprehensive economic and legislative reforms, with the ministry committed to facilitating both domestic and foreign investments. El-Khatib stated that the government is currently implementing measures and policies to reform financial, monetary, and trade practices to make it easier for investors and enhance the flow of foreign trade in Egypt. He noted Egypt's competitive advantages, such as skilled labour force, experienced engineering talent, strategic location at the crossroads of three continents, and a broad network of free trade agreements with various countries and regional blocs. The minister highlighted Egypt's significant role as a production and export hub for accessing European, African, and Arab markets. He emphasised Egypt's strong infrastructure, including airports, ports, roads, and renewable energy sources. Sergeenko expressed Belarus's interest in expanding cooperation in sectors such as industry, energy, and agriculture, and conveyed his country's readiness to share its expertise with Egypt to support mutual benefits.
