Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly inaugurated the expansion of Turkish company Hayat Egypt's nonwoven tissue production plant in Sokhna, located within the Orascom Industrial Parks of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), the Egyptian Cabinet reported on Tuesday. The new expansion covers 21,000 square metres and involves an investment of $60 million (around EGP 3 billion), with an annual production capacity of 60,000 tons. The company already operates an existing hygiene products factory in the same area, bringing its total investment in the zone to EGP 3.33 billion. Madbouly highlighted the SCZone's role in attracting global investment, citing its strategic location, integrated industrial and port infrastructure, skilled workforce, and strong transport links. He also noted the zone's access to nearly 2 billion consumers through Egypt's free trade agreements, supporting export growth across multiple international markets.
