President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Monday with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the Amiri Diwan in Doha, at the start of his Gulf tour. The two leaders discussed efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and address the worsening humanitarian situation there. They stressed the need to deliver adequate humanitarian aid to avert further catastrophe, while also advancing efforts to secure the release of hostages and detainees. Both leaders firmly rejected any displacement of Palestinians from their land. They underscored their support for the Arab plan to reconstruct the Gaza Strip without displacement, and emphasised the need to create a political horizon leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The discussions also covered key regional developments, particularly in Syria, Lebanon, and Sudan. The two leaders affirmed the importance of safeguarding the unity, territorial integrity, and stability of these countries, as well as preserving the rights and resources of their peoples.
