Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty emphasised Egypt's commitment to addressing migration, particularly through the creation of legal migration pathways and the regulated movement of workers between Egypt and the European Union. He highlighted the EU's need, especially Germany's, for various skills and professions that are available in Egypt's workforce. During his meeting Wednesday with German State Minister for Foreign Affairs Katja Keul on the sidelines of the Khartoum Process ministerial conference, Minister Abdel-Aty expressed hope that Germany would enhance its support for Egypt, taking into account the financial burdens the Egyptian government bears from hosting over 10 million refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers. The discussions also focused on developments in the region, with particular attention to Gaza. Minister Abdel-Aty outlined Egypt's efforts to return to a ceasefire agreement and begin implementing its second phase, as well as the Arab plan for Gaza's reconstruction. He also briefed Minister Keul on Egypt's stance regarding developments in Libya, emphasising the importance of resolving the executive authority crisis swiftly, forming a new unified government, and supporting the Libyan-led solution for the country's future elections.
