Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi met with Clay Neff, president of Chevron International Exploration and Production, on the sidelines of the 2025 CERAWeek Global Energy Conference in Houston, Texas, to discuss expanding cooperation in Egypt's oil and gas sector. The meeting focused on investment opportunities and Chevron's ongoing activities in Egypt, including its exploration in the North Dabaa Offshore Concession in the Egyptian Western exclusive economic zone of the Mediterranean. Minister Badawi emphasised the need to accelerate drilling and exploration programmes in Chevron's concession areas in the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, as well as fast-track the development of the Nargis offshore discovery to boost Egypt's natural gas production. Badawi also highlighted Egypt's efforts to integrate advanced technologies in exploration, enhance operational efficiency, and promote sustainability in the petroleum sector. On his part, Neff commended Egypt's efforts to create a favourable investment climate and noted Chevron's collaboration with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in developing East Mediterranean gas fields. He pointed to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Chevron and the Egyptian ministry for the development of Cyprus's Aphrodite field at the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPS). Neff further reaffirmed Chevron's commitment to expanding its investments in Egypt and expediting the Nargis field's production timeline, praising Egypt's ongoing energy sector reforms.
