Egypt's Ministry of Transport has renewed its call for local industries, exporters, importers, and businessmen to take advantage of the Ro-Ro Shipping Line for transporting agricultural products and Egyptian goods to Italy and Europe, according to a statement issued on Monday. The green corridor, launched in November 2024, streamlines trade between Egypt and Italy, significantly reducing shipping costs and transit times. The line strengthens Egypt's role as a logistics hub connecting Europe and Africa while expanding trade opportunities. It also bolsters Egyptian exports and creates job opportunities, including over 2,000 driver positions in the transportation and shipping sectors. The Ro-Ro line benefits from mutual port fee reductions and operational incentives. Port fees were slashed by 88 per cent, from $26,050 to $3,250 per trip, and a 35,000 m2 area was designated for the project. Additionally, the Damietta Port Authority has provided a government guarantee for Egyptian Customs, while the Ministry of Finance has supplied an X-ray detection system to facilitate operations, according to the statement.
