Egypt's Medium, Small, and Micro Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) has injected 2.6 billion Egyptian pounds into Qena during the period from July 2014 to December 2024, financing over 95,000 small and micro enterprises and creating more than 142,000 job opportunities. MSMEDA CEO, Basel Rahmi, stated that the agency was expanding its financial and technical services while simplifying project establishment procedures to help entrepreneurs capitalise on investment opportunities across various governorates. Between July 2014 and December 2024, the agency issued over 7,000 final licences and 7,889 temporary licences for new projects in Qena, along with more than 5,300 classification and benefits certificates. These measures enable businesses to access incentives under Law 152/2020, strengthening the small enterprise sector in the region. Rahmi further reaffirmed the agency's commitment to implementing the political leadership's directives to support Upper Egypt's youth, promote entrepreneurship, and expand small-scale enterprises. He congratulated the Governor of Qena, the governorate's youth, and MSMEDA clients on Qena Governorate's National Day, highlighting the agency's ongoing efforts to provide both financial and non-financial support to small businesses. MSMEDA is collaborating with Qena Governorate and other relevant entities to establish a supportive environment for small and micro enterprises. The agency seeks to leverage the governorate's natural resources to encourage citizens to launch new businesses or expand existing ones, ensuring streamlined access to financial and technical support.
