Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting on Monday with John J. Christmann, CEO of US-based Apache Corporation, to discuss the company's expansion plans and its continued investments in Egypt's oil and gas sector. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPS 2025) taking place in Cairo on 17-19 February. President Sisi expressed Egypt's gratitude for Apache's longstanding contributions to the country's energy industry, particularly in oil and gas exploration and production. He emphasized the strategic importance of the energy sector in driving economic development and reiterated Egypt's vision of becoming a regional energy hub in the Eastern Mediterranean. The President also highlighted the need to further strengthen Apache's operations to fully harness Egypt's vast energy resources. Christmann, in turn, underscored the strong partnership between Apache and Egypt, which plays a key role in the company's global operations. He commended Egypt's economic progress, particularly its strides in infrastructure development and energy diversification. Christmann also lauded Egypt's regional cooperation in gas transmission and liquefaction, expressing confidence that these efforts would deliver significant economic benefits for the country.
