Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly reaffirmed the country's unwavering support for the Palestinian people's legitimate rights, particularly the establishment of an independent state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. Madbouly made these remarks during his meeting with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on the sidelines of the 38th Ordinary Session of the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He assessed the Egyptian efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and monitoring its enforcement, underscoring the need to enhance efforts in upholding the ceasefire agreement. Madbouly emphasised Egypt's diplomatic efforts, in coordination with regional and international partners, to support the ceasefire in Gaza and aid in reconstruction, as well as its role in convening an emergency Arab summit on the Palestinian situation. In response, Guterres appreciated Egypt's support for the Palestinian cause, commending its diplomatic efforts and emphasising the need for ongoing coordination with the UN.
