World leaders unite to ceasefire in Gaza strip – Cairo Summit for Peace
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 21 - 10 - 2023

World leaders and high-level representatives from more than 31 countries and three international organisations have gathered on Saturday at the Cairo Summit for Peace, held in the Egyptian capital of Cairo, to reach ceasefire and arrive at a just solution for the Palestinian issue.
President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, and suggested a roadmap to end the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza and renew the path of peace.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Palestinians would not be displaced or driven off their land. "We won't leave, we won't leave," he told world leaders and top officials who attended the summit.
The UN Secretary General António Guterres emphasised that the near-term goals must be clear, repeating his call for unrestricted humanitarian aid to Gaza and the immediate humanitarian ceasefire now.
The Jordanian King recurred his call for an immediate end to the war on Gaza strip, the protection of civilians, and the adoption of a unified position that indiscriminately condemns the targeting of all civilians.
However, Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa said there will be no stability in the Middle East without securing the valid rights of our Palestinian siblings and reaching a long-lasting peace in the region.
While Cyprus's president Nicos Anastasiades called for an immediate de-escalation of the Israel-Palestinian conflict as he emphasised for the need for a protection of civilians and ensuring the delivery of aid to Gaza.
