Egypt's Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) signed on Sunday contracts for a new smart truck yard to serve West Port Said Port (WPS port), according to a Cabinet statement. The project, aimed at reducing congestion and enhancing operational efficiency, will utilise advanced technology to digitalise and optimise the flow of trucks to and from the port, solidifying its position as a leading regional logistics hub. SCZone Chairman Walid Gamal El-Din signed two agreements: first, with the Governor of Port Said, and subsequently, a 25-year strategic partnership deal with a consortium comprising Egytrans and Nafith International. The project, with an investment of EGP 250 million, will launch trial operations in six months and become fully operational within a year. The new truck yard, located just 2 kilometres from the port, spans 114,000 square metres and will feature automated gates, smart container identification using RFID technology, and a central control hub to automate truck entry and exit processes, improving communication and data integration. Additionally, the digital NFLOW system, developed by Nafith, will simplify pre-arrival procedures and ensure smoother goods receipt and delivery, enhancing operational accuracy and reducing delays.
