Egypt's Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk stressed the need of collaboration with global experts and investors to overcome challenges and further promote Egyptian products abroad, as per a Cabinet statement. Farouk announced plans to boost Egyptian crop exports, such as strawberries and citrus fruits, at the Fruit Logistica 2025 in Berlin. He aims to explore new markets and benefit from successful international models. During his visit, the minister toured various exhibition halls and met with representatives from leading global companies, as well as officials from the Florida-based Ekland Company, part of the University of Florida. A meeting was held with Fahim Qura, Director of the University of Florida's International Strawberry Breeding Programme, to discuss boosting high-quality strawberry seedling production in Egypt through a partnership with the ministry. The meeting discussed plans to expand production to include blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, aiming to establish a centre of excellence for tissue culture production in Egypt and to become a major global supplier of these crops. The minister also praised Egyptian companies' efforts for participating in the exhibition, noting their significant contribution to the growing agricultural sector and Egypt's rising competitiveness on the international stage.
