Egypt's Education Minister, Mohamed Abdel Latif, met with Adrian Fenton, a senior school adviser from the UK, to discuss ways to utilise the British education system to improve education in Egypt, according to a Cabinet statement. The meeting, held at the British Council in Cairo, was attended by Mark Howard, director of the British Council in Cairo, and Hanem Ahmed, adviser to the minister for international relations, according to the statement. Abdel Latif discussed Egypt's education system and efforts to enhance its global competitiveness. He highlighted the ministry's commitment to developing the sector holistically by engaging stakeholders to overcome challenges and improve outcomes. He praised the British education model, highlighting its flexibility in offering students multiple opportunities. He also noted its similarities to Egypt's proposed Egyptian Baccalaureate Certificate, recently introduced for public discussion. The proposed system aims to offer government school students with more academic flexibility, reducing their reliance on a single exam to determine their future and allowing them to choose educational pathways based on their skills and abilities.
