President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has called for measures to ease the financial burden on Egyptians by ensuring an ample supply of essential food commodities at discounted prices, particularly with Ramadan approaching. He also stressed the importance of ongoing presidential initiatives to support vulnerable groups and enhance collaboration with the private sector. The remarks came during a Sunday meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk, and Bahaa El-Ghannam, executive director of the Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development Authority. During the meeting, President Sisi reviewed updates on Egypt's strategic stock of essential goods. Minister Farouk reported that reserves for strategic commodities are sufficient for the next six months. Discussions emphasized ensuring affordable prices during Ramadan and maintaining price stability through coordination between agencies. The meeting also explored ways to expand social protection networks, including reforms to subsidy systems to ensure they reach deserving beneficiaries, such as participants in the Takaful and Karama programs and families of martyrs. President Sisi stressed the need for effective governance to ensure subsidies benefit those most in need. Additionally, the activation of a commodity exchange market was discussed as a strategic measure to enhance food security, stabilize prices, and ensure the sustainability of basic goods. President Sisi further highlighted Egypt's potential to become a regional logistics hub for strategic commodity trade, enhancing the country's economic standing regionally and globally.
