Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi instructed the government to provide the necessary resources for the agricultural sector, building on the progress made in recent years with the aim of achieving significant vertical and horizontal expansion in agricultural production. This directive came during a meeting on Wednesday with Prime Minister, Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Hani Sewilam, Minister of Agriculture Alaa Farouk, and Executive Director of the Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development Authority, Bahaa El-Ghannam. The president highlighted that agriculture is a vital foundation for development, essential for fulfilling local food requirements—a key national security concern—and for optimising the advantages of exporting domestic agricultural products. Additionally, these projects create new job opportunities for citizens, contributing to the national economy, he added. The meeting focused on the government's programmes in the agriculture and water sectors and ways to develop and enhance their role in comprehensive development. The discussion included ensuring the needs of agricultural and water projects, such as the New Delta project and the Future of Egypt projects across the country. These projects are highlighted for their comprehensive economic integration, including manufacturing, distribution, marketing, exports, and urban development components.
