Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly held talks on Tuesday with Vincent Clerc, CEO of AP Moller – Maersk, to discuss strengthening ties in maritime services and advancing green energy solutions. The discussions, took place on the sidelines of the 2025 World Economic Forum in Davos, highlighted the growing partnership between Maersk and Egypt, particularly in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. Prime Minister Madbouly emphasised the importance of ongoing collaboration, referencing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's December visit to Denmark, which included strategic talks with Maersk leadership to expand operations in Egypt. The prime minister addressed the impact of recent geopolitical tensions in the Red Sea region on maritime security, expressing optimism for regional stability to ensure smooth global trade. He also reiterated Egypt's successful role in facilitating a ceasefire in Gaza, with support from Qatar and the United States, and its continued efforts in reconstruction and humanitarian aid delivery to the region. Clerc expressed Maersk's interest in Egypt's strategic location and its role in fostering stability, noting the importance of these efforts for maritime security. The meeting also explored advancing the use of green hydrogen and renewable energy in maritime transport, a key focus for Maersk and a priority for Egypt in its climate action agenda.
