Egypt's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, met with Latvia's State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andžejs Viļumsons, to explore avenues for collaboration in digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), outsourcing, and cybersecurity. Discussions focused on future partnerships, including joint initiatives between Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) and Latvian educational institutions to build digital skills, according to the Egyptian Cabinet. Talaat proposed establishing Centres of Excellence in Egypt for Latvian companies, enabling Egyptian talent to deliver digital services globally. He also emphasised the potential for Egyptian professionals to contribute to Latvian firms. The minister highlighted Egypt's efforts in digital transformation, including AI-driven solutions developed by the Applied Innovation Centre (AIC) for various sectors. Additionally, Talaat highlighted efforts to enhance digital infrastructure, such as deploying fibre-optic cables nationwide, including in Decent Life villages, and supporting Egypt's electronics industry by producing fibre-optic cables to meet local and export demands.
