Egypt's Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, highlighted the significance of the 7th Egyptian-Uzbek Joint Committee session in enhancing bilateral cooperation after a 15-year hiatus. The Uzbek Minister of Investment Laziz Kudratov expressed his country's strong desire to enhance relations with Egypt and to increase trade exchange to $500 million in the coming years. Kudratov showed a keen interest in attracting Egyptian technology, knowledge, and expertise in electronics, pharmaceuticals, and textiles for the implementation of regionally significant projects. Al-Mashat signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Uzbek Ministry of Environment and Climate Change for technical cooperation in environmental protection and pollution reduction. Al-Mashat and the Uzbek Minister also signed a protocol for the 7th session of the Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation, outlining collaboration in 14 sectors. Another MoU was signed between Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities and the Islamic Civilisation Centre in Uzbekistan. There was also an agreement between the Samarkand region in Uzbekistan and Alexandria governorate in Egypt to enhance relations in various fields. Meanwhile, A new MoU was established between Ain Shams University and Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies to enhance collaboration in academic programmes and collaborative research endeavours.
