Moscow has significantly boosted its trade with Southeast Asia in 2024, achieving a 7 per cent year-on-year increase in total trade turnover and a nearly threefold rise in non-energy exports, according to Anastasia Sapunova, head of the export activities department at Mosprom. Key buyers of Moscow's non-energy goods include Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and Myanmar. Indonesia led the growth, with purchases of Moscow products soaring 10.5 times compared to 2023, while exports to Vietnam doubled. Industrial goods, including metalworking, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals, accounted for over 60 per cent of exports to the region. Vietnam emerged as a major market for construction materials, medical equipment, and food products, with baby food exports rising 26 per cent and chocolate confectionery up 32 per cent year-on-year. Mosprom has supported Moscow's exporters by analysing target markets and providing guidance on overcoming trade barriers and navigating customs regulations.
