Egypt's Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel Al-Wazir, held a meeting with European companies to discuss plans for establishing a factory in Ain Sokhna to localise the production of electrolysers used in green hydrogen generation. The meeting included Norway's Scatec and a coalition of three companies: Belgium's John Cockerill, Italy's Relay, and France's SLB. Al-Wazir emphasised the Egyptian government's strong commitment to renewable energy projects, particularly green hydrogen, aiming to position Egypt as a regional hub for production and export. He highlighted previous agreements with international companies, such as Belgium's DEME Hyport Energy NV and a collaboration with France's EDF Renewable and Egypt-UAE's Zero Waste in Ras Shukeir for green hydrogen and ammonia production. The minister assured the companies of the government's full support in terms of land allocation and necessary licenses for production and export, stressing Egypt's potential as a key player in the green hydrogen industry.
