Korea's memory chip exports to Taiwan soared by more than 225 per cent in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year, driven by strong demand for high-performance high bandwidth memory (HBM) products fueled by the rapid expansion of the global artificial intelligence (AI) market, according to data released Sunday. The Korea International Trade Association data showed that outbound shipments of memory chips to Taiwan reached $4.26 billion in the first six months of the year, representing a 225.7 per cent increase from the previous year. This growth significantly outpaced the overall rise in Korea's memory chip exports, which increased by 88.7 per cent.
