ITIDA, DXC Technology partner to boost Egypt's software industry, offshoring exports
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 21 - 07 - 2024

The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), part of the Egyptian Ministry of Communications, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with DXC Technology Egypt to collaborate and strengthen Egypt's software industry and offshoring exports.
The partnership aims to unlock the full potential of ITIDA's Software Engineering Competence Centre (SECC). The SECC offers training, consulting services, assessments, and internationally recognized certifications. DXC Technology will leverage these resources to enhance the skills and qualifications of Egypt's software workforce.
The MoU aligns with ITIDA's strategy to make Egypt a global software industry leader. By equipping professionals with advanced skills and certifications, the collaboration aims to improve the efficiency and quality of software development at Egyptian companies. This, in turn, is expected to significantly boost Egypt's software exports.
"Our collaboration with DXC Technology aims to create a comprehensive support system for software companies, offering a full suite of services including training, accreditation, and consulting." Ahmed ElZaher, ITIDA's CEO, said.
"We aim to support the growth of these companies, increase their competitiveness, and enhance their capabilities for international market penetration. Such practices elevate the quality of software development processes and strengthen Egypt's position as a global delivery hub for IT services."
For her part, Neveen Galal, Managing Director of DXC Technology Egypt and Regional Delivery Leader at DXC Technology, said DXC is working hard in cooperation with ITIDA to provide trained experienced talent to work on exporting Egyptian software projects globally.
"We believe in the capabilities and skills of software developers and that Egypt is capable of achieving excellence." Galal affirmed.
Egypt's Software Industry on the Rise
Egypt's outsourcing services sector has seen significant growth. In the last fiscal year, it boomed by 54.2 per cent, and digital exports increased by 26 per cent, reaching $6.2 billion in 2023.
A Strong Foundation for Success
Egypt's appeal lies in its young and skilled workforce. Over 300,000 ICT professionals, including 130,000 in offshoring, are ready to serve global businesses. Additionally, Egypt produces a steady stream of STEM graduates, ensuring a continuous pipeline of talent. The country's multilingual capabilities, with services offered in over 20 languages, further solidify its position as a premier IT/BPO destination for global investment.
This partnership between ITIDA and DXC Technology signifies a significant step forward for Egypt's software industry. By focusing on workforce development and international collaboration, the initiative aims to propel Egypt's software exports and establish the country as a major player in the global IT landscape.
