Egypt's construction and infrastructure sectors are booming with new cities and mega projects, the sixth edition of Big 5 Construct Egypt and the 2nd edition of the Egypt Infrastructure & Water Expo highlight this transformation.
During the opening, speakers from the public and private sectors underscored the critical importance of advancing sustainable development while supporting the growth of Egypt's infrastructure to meet growing demands for new cities.
Panel speakers echoed the progress, with experts highlighting the New Administrative Capital (NAC) as a model for Egypt's connected, infrastructure-rich urban future.
New cities in Egypt are now more attractive to residents thanks to an action plan focused on improving education, government services, transport, employment, and financing options, said Amr Khattab, Infrastructure General Manager at the Egyptian Ministry of Housing, Minister's Technical Office.
Khattab added that 11.5 million people currently reside in these new cities in Egypt.
Tarek Hamed Gewaily, chairman of National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) stressed on the importance of modernising the transport infrastructure for economic growth and societal development.
The activities of the opening day witnessed wide international participation, by ambassadors from Greece, Cambodia, Malawi, Namibia, Uganda, Congo, and Ghana.
