The UAE's Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology and Germany's State of Baden-Württemberg signed a joint declaration of intent (JDI) at the Munich Security Conference on Sunday. This agreement aims to promote sustainable industrial development, supply chain resilience, advanced technology, and decarbonisation efforts. At COP28, the UAE showcased its commitment to collaboration by leading initiatives for industrial contribution to global decarbonisation targets. They introduced the Industrial Decarbonisation Roadmap, an innovative model for phased, targeted carbon emission reduction that aims for a 93 per cent emission reduction by 2050, using solutions like carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) and clean energy in hard-to-abate industries. The Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, stated that the new partnership builds on COP28 initiatives, supports Operation 300 billion, and supports the UAE's Net Zero by 2050 strategy. The focus is on sustainable industrial development, technology solutions, and joint investments for supply chain resilience. The partnership will foster co-operation between the UAE and Baden-Württemberg, promoting bilateral relations and green industrial investments. It will explore collaboration in AI, smart manufacturing, health, and aerospace. The parties will work together to speed up industrialization and decarbonization initiatives, aligning with the UAE's strategies and the Paris Agreement goals, in addition to enhancing capacity and skills through joint research and internships.
