Human beings are still more cost-effective than artificial intelligence (AI) in the majority of jobs, Bloomberg reported on Monday, citing Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Researchers in MIT modelled the cost attractiveness of automating a number of tasks in the US such as teachers and property appraisers. They found that only 23 per cent of workers could be effectively replaced by AI. However, in the majority of the cases and due to the high expense of AI-assisted visual recognition, humans did the jobs more economically. A number of tech firms such as Microsoft and Alphabet have been working on layoffs to boost the presence of AI in their companies.
