Egypt's Rashid National Museum in Beheira governorate, also known as Rosetta, is set to undergo an extensive renovation project. The project is targeting ceilings, exhibition spaces, lights, and security system. The museum has undergone a number of renovation and development in the past, including one in 2009, when it was expanded to include an open museum display. Moreover, it also was expanded to include administrative offices, a seminar hall, a tourism and antiquities police unit, and service annexes. The Museum is home to a large collection of artefacts reflecting the history of the city of Rashid in Beheria. It also holds significant records of the city's struggles against English and French colonialism. The Rashid National Museum holds over 776 items, including a copy of the Rosetta Stone, found by French soldiers near Fort Julien in 1799.
