Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities have unearthed a Sphinx-like statue in the temple of Dendera located Southern Egypt, it is much smaller than the well-known Giza Pyramids Sphinx, according to its statement on Monday. The limestone statue with its "smiley face and two dimples" is thought to represent and belong to the Roman emperor Claudius; making the document dated back to 41 and 54 A.D. in this case. The archaeologists also discovered a Roman-era stone slab, with demotic and hieroglyphic inscriptions carved on it. More studies on the inscriptions could reveal more accurate details about the discovered statue. Excavation missions have started working in the area surrounding the temple of Dendera last February, and still resume their work in order to reveal other artefacts that could still be hidden.
