Egypt to host 2nd edition of Africa Health ExCon next June
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 29 - 01 - 2023

Africa Health ExCon, the largest medical conference and exhibition in the continent, will launch the second edition to take place on June 7-10, said Bahaa El-Din Zidan, the chairman of Egypt's Authority for Unified Procurement (UPA).
UPA will organise the conference at Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC) under the patronage of H.E. President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, under the theme of Your Gate to Innovation and Trade.
Africa Health ExCon gains prominence on both African and global levels and represents a great opportunity to exchange experiences in the field of health care.
The exhibition will tackle challenges that facing African countries in the health sector, which is still recovering from the consequences of the pandemic and tropical and infectious diseases.
The conference will be a great chance for the international companies that are keen to explore opportunities for investment and trade in the health sector in Africa.
The event is the first-of-its-kind comprehensive platform bringing all the parties of the African healthcare sectors together to establish a unified forward-looking vision, UPA's head said.
Egypt robustly retrieved its leading participatory role in setting Africa's unified vision to address both existing and potential challenges facing the continent, mainly in the healthcare system, Zidan added.
This step will ensure access to medical and pharmaceutical services, develop the scientific research system in Africa and explore the latest innovations in various healthcare sectors, including medical supplies, equipment and others.
Zidan also highlighted that the Covid-19 pandemic placed a huge burden and exposed the significant deficiencies in Africa's healthcare systems, which led to deteriorating economic and living conditions.
This prompted UPA to establish this platform as a sustainable communication channel for Africa to explore the updates in the global health sector.
Zidan expects that exhibition will host over 60,000 visitors and healthcare representatives from more than 100 countries, alongside 3,000 delegates, including ministers, and industry leaders from Africa and the Middle East.
In 2022, the first edition of Africa Health ExCon hailed an unprecedented success, as it hosted more than 24 scientific conferences, 43,000 visitors, along with the participation of 75 countries.
