Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 12 - 03 - 2012

The 6th annual MultaQa Qatar conference, organized by the Qatar Financial Centre Authority (QFC Authority) and Global Reinsurance is held 11-13 March at The Ritz-Carlton, Doha.
The conference, which has established itself as the leading regional insurance, reinsurance and risk management event, has drawn more than 400 senior delegates from around the world. Attendance is again expected to be a record.
The keynote conference address will be delivered by His Excellency Yousef Hussain Kamal, Minister of Finance and Economy of the State of Qatar.
This year's conference will examine key insurance and reinsurance market trends such as accelerating consolidation, changing loss patterns, record-low investment yields and tightening regulations in the context of global and regional economic, social and political developments.
Delegates giving keynote speeches will include: Jose Ribeiro, Director - International Markets, Lloyd's of London; Emmanuel Clarke, President and CEO, PartnerRe Global; Abdulrahman Ahmad Al-Shaibi, Board Member and Managing Director, QFC Authority; and Dr Robert P. Hartwig, President, Insurance Information Institute.
Three dedicated panel debates will explore strategic opportunities and challenges presented by rapidly growing Middle Eastern insurance and reinsurance markets, the dynamics of the global reinsurance marketplace and the increasing Boardroom relevancy of insurance regulations. The conference will be chaired by Dr Kai-Uwe Schanz, Chairman and Principal Partner, Dr. Schanz, Alms & Company.
Abdulrahman Ahmad Al-Shaibi, Board Member and Managing Director, QFC Authority, said, "The 6th Annual MultaQa Qatar Conference is taking place against a backdrop of renewed global economic uncertainty. In such an environment, a resilient insurance industry is particularly vital: It promotes financial stability, encourages innovation and facilitates investments and international trade. MultaQa Qatar brings together an outstanding group of top global and regional insurance, reinsurance and risk management professionals and stakeholders to pinpoint the industry's development globally and in the Middle Eastern region. MultaQa is the Middle East's leading insurance forum and we at the QFC Authority are honored to support it."
