The Alamein Art Festival has kicked off on Thursday by Art D'Egypte, which a private firm known for organising high-profile art events in the country.
Art D'Egypte included in the first edition of the Alamein Art Festival a group of large installations that environmentally friendly artworks by recycling some materials to craft unique and creative artworks.
The seven artists met and experimented with various kinds of scrap materials, which all provided by factories that offered waste materials of various kinds.
These materials finished after a month-long workshop at the Industrial Development Group (IDG), the latest industrial complex in the North Coast.
The artists used factory waste to create innovative artworks that express the importance of preserving the environment, through the approach of social and environmental sustainability policies.
In addition to that they used art to integrate factory waste with nature and the sea by taking advantage of the concept of recycling.
Art D'Egypte founder Nadine Abdel Ghaffar said that the company had been trying to promote more installation art in Egypt for some time, but had been impeded by a lack of materials.
The contributing artist Marwa Magdy said, "part of our objective is to upcycle the waste materials provided into a giant installation," adding that the second aim is to create something aligns with the industrial park.
The festival comes in light of the COP27's goals, as well as the artists have a huge role to play in the global fight against climate change, Abdel Ghaffar added.
