Egypt strives to rise agricultural productivity

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi called on Monday for a joint endeavour to rise the productivity in the agricultural sector to improve food security concerning strategic crops, during a meeting.
The meeting held with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Al-Sayed el-Quseir and Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea.

The government proceeded the initiative of preparing a sufficient stock of strategic crops among the Russia-Ukraine crisis, el-Quseir told the Senate on Sunday. This includes building 73 silos that can contain 5.5 million tons of strategic goods. el-Quseir noted that Egypt's agriculture sector has contributed to 15 percent of Gross Development Products GDP and is responsible for employing 25 percent of the country's labour force.
al-Sisi keens on enhancing the collective effort worldwide in agricultural production's field that would be a good push the competitiveness of Egyptian agricultural products locally and internationally.
The meeting discussed the status of Egyptian agricultural exports that includes 350 agricultural products. Also, Egypt exporting to above 150 countries across the world, which the Arab and European countries are top.
President linked this development to increase job opportunities whether direct or indirect job through many areas.
In 2021, Egypt's agricultural exports witnessed an unprecedented leap at 5.6 million tons with a value of $3 billion, the spokesman said.
