Remittances from Egyptians working abroad grew by 6.4 percent year-on-year to around $31.5 billion in 2021 from $29.6 billion in 2020, Egypt's central bank (CBE) announced on Monday. The central bank's preliminary data shows that remittances in December 2021 recorded $2.6 billion. Remittances jumped to an unprecedented rate of 13.2 percent in the financial year 2020/2021 to $31.4 billion, up from $27.8 billion recorded in the financial year 2019/2020, according to CBE.
