Egyptian Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker has led a high-level delegation to Vienna this week to take part in the 65th International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference, being held from 20 to 24 September.
The 65th Annual Regular Session of the IAEA General Conference is going green, to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability. The IAEA as organiser will contribute to making the General Conference a Green Meeting. Delegates can have a role in this endeavour and are encouraged to choose environmentally friendly options when planning their participation.
The Egyptian delegation comprises of Mohamed El-Molla, ambassador of Egypt to Austria; Amged El-Wakeel, chairman of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority (NPPA); Samy Shaaban, chairman of the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA); Hamed MIRA, chairman of the Nuclear Materials Authority (NMA); and Amr Elhag, chairman of the Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority (EAEA).
Egypt signs new IAEA Country Programme Framework
On Tuesday on the sidelines of the conference, Egypt signed Country Programme Framework (CPF) with IAEA for the period of 2022–2027.
A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a member state and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to back national development goals.

Egypt's 2022–2027 CPF identifies seven priority areas: nuclear and radiation safety and nuclear security; energy planning and nuclear power; industrial applications /radiation technology; water and environment; food and agriculture; human health; and nuclear knowledge development and management.
