Egypt registered 479 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, bringing the total infection tally to 92,062 since the outbreak began in February, according to a health ministry statement. The health ministry also reported 48 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 4.606. The statement said that 928 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 33,831. Egypt has been recording less than 1,000 coronavirus cases per day for more than two weeks now. Earlier on Sunday vice president of the health ministry's scientific committee Jihan El-Assal said the ministry has started to gradually close down quarantine hospitals due to the declining number of patients. She added that Cairo, Giza and Qalioubiya still have the highest infections rates.
