Technical University Of Berlin In Egypt Chooses R&M For High Performance Cabling Deployment In Landmark Project
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 24 - 10 - 2012

United Arab Emirates-October 24, 2012- Reichle & De-Massari (R&M), the Swiss structured cabling specialist, today announced that the Technical University of Berlin in El Gouna, one of the leading universities in Egypt, has upgraded to a state-of-the-art network infrastructure through the deployment of R&M's copper cabling solutions.
Mr. Sameh Kamel, El Gouna Communication Manager noted, "Choosing the right cabling components was a critical decision for us as it is the foundation for our network. R&M and their Swiss quality modular solutions were an obvious choice as they offered all the requirements we sought. Additionally their QPP training for our staff was extremely beneficial."
The TU Berlin strives to promote the dissemination of knowledge and to facilitate technological progress by building upon strong regional, national and international partnerships with high-performance networking playing a vital role in this. The organization's new El Gouna campus construction is a multiyear multiphase project. R&M, however, completed its role in customizing a cutting-edge network infrastructure that is fully compliant with the stringent specifications of the university. This was achieved by utilizing the most innovative cabling products, Cat. 6A and Cat. 7 cables.
Cat. 7 cable solution was chosen as it is the standard for Ethernet and other inter-connect technologies. Cat. 7 also has the advantage for TU Berlin that it can be made to be backward compatible with Cat. 6A and is suitable for multiple applications. Overall, 1,400 ports were installed, with R&M partner Channel Computer Service responsible for handling the project, in terms of design, consultancy, local support and delivery.
Alfred Tharwat, Area Manager, Africa for R&M commented by saying, "We are proud we had this opportunity to work on such a landmark project such as the Technical University of Berlin. Our partner exerted a great effort over the project and the client Orascom appreciated R&M's after sales support."
R&M also offered a QPP (Qualified Partner Program) to the El Gouna Service Company, the telecom provider for the university, as part of their after sales support and to increase El Gouna staff's expertise. The training centered on how to install and request the warranty. Now local El Gouna Telecom support staff will be able to better manage all aspects of the network on site.
Jean-Pierre Labry, Executive Vice President of R&M Middle East and Africa, concluded, "We're continuing our success record in Egypt with this breakthrough project, in-line with R&M's reputation of providing our clients, speed, quality, and reliability."
