Egypt's Zamalek to extend Carteron's contract after end of coronavirus

Egypt's Zamalek chairman Mortada Mansour said the club will extend French coach Patrice Carteron's contract after the end of the current coronavirus crisis, Ahram Online reported on Friday.
“We reached an agreement with Carteron to extend his stay with the team for another season,” Mansour told a television programme on Thursday evening.
“We agreed with him to sign the new contract after the end of the current crisis with the spread of the coronavirus.”
“Carteron is a distinctive coach who succeeded in winning two trophies with the team and achieved victory in tough games,” Mansour added.
Last month, 49-year-old Carteron announced that he had refused an attractive offer from a Japanese club despite the fact that his deal with the Whites is set to expire in June, confirming he is looking forward to achieving further trophies in Egypt.
“I received a big offer from one of the Japanese clubs but I refused it,” Carteron told reporters.
“Despite my contract with Zamalek expiring at the end of the current season, I refused the offer,” the Zamalek coach said.
A former Ahly and Raja Casablanca of Morocco coach, Carteron helped Zamalek snatch the African Super Cup and Egyptian Super Cup titles as well as reach the African Champions League semifinals.
