The administrative court will hear a case requesting the nullification of the Constituent Assembly on 17 July instead of 4 September, said Mohamed Hassan, the head of the court's technical office, on Wednesday. The date was moved up because the administrative court chose to combine this lawsuit with a similar one filed by lawyer Mohamed Shehata and hear them both as one case on 17 July, Hassan explained. Both lawsuits allege that the formation of the Constituent Assembly did not proceed according to proper procedure, and that there was an unfair bias in the selection process that favored those with affiliations to Islamist parties. Also on 17 July the court will hear a number of other cases against various government institutions, including appeals against the reinstatement of the People's Assembly and the supplement to the Constitutional Declaration, as well as lawsuits calling for the dissolution of the Shura Council. Abdel Salam al-Naggar, who recently assumed the presidency of the administrative court, said these other cases were postponed until 17 July in order to allow the court time to review related documents.
