Informed military sources said Thursday that President-elect Mohamed Morsy would be sworn in before the general assembly of the Supreme Constitutional Court on Saturday morning, after which the armed forces plans to hold a ceremony to transfer power to the president. Preparations are underway for the ceremony, which will include a military parade that the president watches from an open car in the Hikestep area along the Cairo-Ismailia Desert Road, the sources told Al-Masry Al-Youm on condition of anonymity. A long documentary film will also be screened regarding the armed forces' role throughout the revolution and transition phase. The military council will maintain the legislative powers it delegated to itself in the supplement to the Constitutional Declaration until a new Parliament is elected, the sources added. The power transfer celebrations, according to the same sources, will end with a dinner in an armed forces club attended by Morsy, senior military officers and state officials, Al-Azhar's grand sheikh and Coptic Church representatives. Local and international media will also be invited to the event. Morsy is scheduled to deliver a speech during the ceremony. A Freedom and Justice Party leader earlier told Al-Masry Al-Youm that Shura Council Speaker Ahmed Fahmy, Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi and current Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzouri would attend the swearing-in ceremony.
