Family members call for investigation into death of Saudi princess
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 25 - 08 - 2010

The lawyer for Saudi royal Allal al-Fassi on Tuesday told prosecutors that his client is unable to testify in investigations relating to the death of his sister, Princess Hind al-Fassi, as he has been "kidnapped" by unknown persons who have taken him against his will to Saudi Arabia.
Al-Fassi had filed a complaint with prosecutors in which he accused her husband, Prince Turki, and his three sons of murdering his sister. He also requested that state prosecutors carry out extensive investigations aimed at uncovering the cause of what her mysterious death.
Princess Hind al-Fassi, 52, died on Sunday in a hospital outside Cairo, and was laid to rest at a funeral in Cairo on Monday, attended by relatives and the Saudi ambassador to Egypt.
According to security sources, prosecutors have not been notified of any recent kidnappings. Describing the lawyer's claims as "laughable," the same sources added that members of the al-Fassi family "often accuse each other of all sorts of things."
Meanwhile, Princess Hind's son Abdel Rahman has filed a complaint with police accusing al-Fassi of beating and insulting him and his father in the hospital and causing damage to the intensive care unit, according to the Egyptian Gazette.
The director of the hospital to which the late princess was taken in her last days testified before prosecutors that she had been hospitalized on Friday night after complaining from stomach pains. Her medical diagnosis, he added, did not suggest any foul play.
The Fassi family are known in Egypt for their extravagent lifestyle, and are reported to have lived for the last ten years on two floors of a luxury hotel.
