Egypt's Foreign Ministry has said that the Egyptian Embassy in Sweden succeeded in obtaining the approval of the Swedish government to allocate US$1 million dollars for the treatment of those injured during Egypt's 25 January revolution, said Amr Roshdy, the ministry spokesperson, on Monday. Two of the injured arrived in the Swedish capital of Stockholm for treatment on Sunday, Roshdy added. They were received by Egyptian Ambassador Osama al-Magdoub, a number of embassy staff, and representatives of the Egyptian community in Sweden. They were transferred to an eye surgery center at the Uppsala University. The embassy will follow up on their cases until they return to Egypt, according to Roshdy. “This group was the first to arrive from a total of 11 eye injury cases,” he said adding that the embassy is considering bringing people with burns or those who need physical rehabilitation too. Roshdy added that treating the injured abroad is one of the issues that the ministry is paying special attention to, in gratitude for what the injured revolutionaries gave for Egypt, the revolution and for freedom, democracy and social justice.
