Qena protesters end sit-in after governor''s suspension

Protesters in Qena have ended a sit-in they have staged for more than a week, demanding the removal of their newly-appointed governor.
They ended their sit-in in the Upper Egyptian governorate after Prime Minister Essam Sharaf decided to suspend Governor Emad Mikhail, a Christian, for three months.
The protesters, who demanded Mikhail be replaced with a Muslim governor, called upon Sharaf to "show gratitude" and attend a million-man protest they intend to organize Friday.
A number of Qena protesters have said they do not object to Mikhail because of his religion and instead accuse him of involvement in killing pro-democracy protesters during the 25 January revolution.
Train movement, previously blocked by the protesters, has also resumed.
