Egypt''s first online gift registry: Thinking inside the box
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 09 - 11 - 2010

Starting next month, gift shopping will no longer be a hassle. TheGiftery.com, a store registry and gift store, will go public for all internet users. The website is your gateway to almost all market shops and brands, making it exponentially easier to pick a present for a loved one.
The online gift finder is user friendly. If it is your wedding or a baby shower you are arranging, all you need to do is go on the TheGiftery.com website and create your own gift list from more than 30 chic Egyptian brands.
The user friendly online service enables you to access stores like Zimmer, Fauchon, Villeroy & Boch, Bang & Olufsen, Arkan, Mounaya, Gourmet Egypt, Mont Blanc, Articulate Baboon and many other brands. After you're done with your list, the online gift shop offers you three privacy settings: A public list that you can also access on Facebook, a private list with a password, or an invisible list accessible through a number.
“The last option is for public figures who would want to keep their identity hidden from the website's visitors,” says young entrepreneur and founder of TheGiftery.com Sara Aclimandos.
“The whole idea of The Giftery is to consolidate all items in one list,” adds Aclimandos. By creating a list on The Giftery you avoid the hassle, traffic and general inconvenience of purchasing a present. The cyber gift shop also offers spa vouchers and hampers from Fauchon and Gourmet Egypt, “in addition to an art gallery section,” says Aclimandos.
TheGiftery.com will divide expensive lists into vouchers so your friends can share and buy one big, expensive present. The sky is the limit; from paintings and LCD screens to flowers and food baskets. You choose…they deliver.
TheGiftery.com handles the payment and the delivery; you can either pay with your credit card or upon delivery. All you need to do is specify whether you want the delivery to your house or to the house of the individual you are buying a present for. In this case, the present is sent to your friend or loved one and another messenger is sent to your house to collect the money.
“Our aim is to cover all main brands in Egypt,” stated Aclimandos. She adds that the TheGiftery.com makes it much easier for friends and relatives residing abroad to choose and buy presents for their loved ones in Egypt on their special occasions.
“Right now we deliver within Cairo and Alexandria but eventually we want to expand,” says Aclimandos. “We want to cover all tastes from classic to funk,” she adds.
A greeting message or a card will be sent to the recipient accompanied by the gift. The list creator is notified by email concerning all gifts bought from her or his list, including the names of the buyers and purchase amounts.
“There will be seasonal packages at The Giftery starting for Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, and other holidays,” Aclimandos adds with visible excitement. TheGiftery.com offers you the pleasure of shopping without its hassle. Receive your present at home or send it to its recipient at an affordable shipping rate.
