In the first confrontation in the Gaza Strip since the cease-fire 10 days ago, 10 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire east of Kissufim crossing in the south of the Gaza Strip. This happened a few hours after an Israeli soldier was killed in a roadside bomb blast near the border with the Gaza Strip, marking the first to be killed since the end of the Israeli attack on Gaza. Three other soldiers were injured in the blast. Palestinian witnesses in Khan Younis said clashes between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian militants have erupted following the blast and that the Israeli army began the firing and combed the area under helicopter cover. For his part, Barak said: “It is a serious attack that we do not accept and that we will respond to.”
Later, the Israeli forces entered the southern Gaza Strip east of Khan Younis and fired at a farm in the region. Hamas officials said an Israeli air strike targeted a motorcycle in southern Gaza Strip, seriously injuring two people. Raed Fattouh, responsible for bringing in goods to the Gaza Strip, said Israel closed all crossings leading to the sector. In the meantime, Palestinian Justice Minister Ali el-Khashan said he has submitted an official request to the International Criminal Court in The Hague to accept Palestine in the court, hoping that the Member States - particularly Jordan - would accept the request. He said the Palestinian government will work hard to prosecute Israel for the crimes committed against humanity in the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian territories in general.
